We here at The Imperial Eye have been hard at work reading the documents made public following the Treason Declassification Act, telling you everything you need to know about the traitors our esteemed Empire has brought down for the betterment of its people. Today we bring you a tale of betrayal that rocked our navy to its core in the final chapters of the War of Ennoblement. Three short weeks before the Empire’s victory at Dun-Terra, treason was brewing in the heart of Captain Albert Vessinger.
On the eve of a surprise imperial attack, the villain Vessinger sent word ahead to the Maran rebels, warning them of the impending attack. While the empire seized victory in the following engagement, countless soldiers and innocent women and children were killed in the chaotic fight that followed. Imperial interrogators quickly uncovered the insidious plot when speaking to the local populace, and rushed to apprehend the murderer. Knowing he was in danger, Vessinger attempted to hide among his crew before being discovered and, ultimately, sentenced to Sutter Gaol.
The Empress was personally affronted by the revelation of such moral decay within the ranks of her armada, and has since demanded that standards be raised for the recruitment of new officers. The following investigation sent many officers to glorious execution, strengthening the heart of the Empire. Stories like these are important for reminding us that even in the shining centers of our inimitable nation, you must always be vigilant for spies amongst your neighbors.
